PostHeaderIcon could you give me details about this gas mask?

i found this gas mask in the swap meet and decided to get it being that its so awesome. does anyone know about the era, aplications, or value of it? its a rubber gas mask in a green hood that reads: HOOD, CHEMICAL BIOLOGICAL
MASK M6A2
ECP 87 1002 079
420-00-999-0423
DAAAA09-85-C 1194
i found a pic of the gas mask itself on ebay, heres the link:

Here is a page of hits I got by googling CHEMICAL BIOLOGICAL MASK M6A2

My guess is that it is an older discontinued model as most of the hits lead to different model numbers. It is cool but I wouldn't trust it in any actual use as the canisters have limited shelf life.

We used gas masks for training at Ft Dix and it isn't what we used. That was in 1964, February brrrrrr

Actually the M6A2 might mean just the hood part.

Where is your gas mask and duct tape?

The M6A2 was standard issue chemical and biological protection for troops from about 1962 to 1983……I don't know how much they cost, but there are a lot of them out there in the military surplus outlets….
