PostHeaderIcon Seriously, How many people really think that Sadam Hussain had weapons of Mass Destruction?

For that matter we know that North Korea has weapons of mass destruction. We didn't invade N. Korea because Kim could level San Francisco with the push of a button. He did as much to his people as Saddam did, so why the invasion? A billion dollars a month is what we are losing.
So who supports the GOP and the war after finding out the truth with the weapons of mass destruction?

I didn't care if he had them or not

I am guilty of thinking the war would help oil prices go down.

I also thought it might helps us get a base in the middle east besides Israel, another mistake.

That is why this election I am voting Democrat.

Because McSame doesn't seem to have a different plan the Bush.

We know he had a wood chipper that he was throwing people into. Whether he had weapons or not he needed to be stopped from killing the Kurds and some of his own people. Bush and some of the other members of congress, including Hillary, went with invading Iraq after receiving information from intelligence that he did.

Now we have this type of question.

The weapons were only part of the reason we went in.

The U.N. had been looking in Iraq for 2 years and couldn't find any. Bush just made stuff up, and notice when we couldn't find any, then it was because Hussain was such a bad man, now it's because we want to spread democracy, whats the excuse next year?

    I actually believe he did

He was also a dictator and many innocent people died under his reign, so in a sense the invasion was a good thing.

But now we have a broken iraq, and a poor america.
Wot about health care? The homeless and the ghettos?
    Yeah man, wot about that?

Well, he did. That is why the UN resolutions were in place. He was supposed to comply and destroy all of his weapons of mass destruction. That was fundamental in our agreement to leave Iraq in the first place. He did not hold up his end of the deal. North Korea does not have the same situation. Apples to Oranges.

it does not matter what I think.

All the facts point to the fact that he certainly was not as dangerous in that regard as some wanted us to believe.
Even if he had some at some point in the past….whatever he had did not justify the grossly exaggerated paranoia and response by the Bush administration. Clearly they were bent on going to war with Iraq.

Since Sadam Hussain used WMD against his own people, one cannot say that he never had them. To this day, nobody knows what he did with them, but we now know that he allowed people to think he had an arsenal because he was trying to deter Iran. This fooled both the CIA and the British intelligence service.

Barely anyone does now. But in late 2002, when Colin Powell and all of Bush's cronies said there were probably WMDs, America believed them, mostly. 77% of the Senate voted to go to war in Iraq.

People talk about how terrible it is that other countries have WMDs, and it is quite bad, but look at us, too. We have either the 2nd most or most WMDs in the world. (Russia has a lot, too) There's enough to destroy the world around a dozen times. Why would we need that much?

His own Generals believed he did.

"The Iraqi dictator was so secretive and kept information so compartmentalized that his top military leaders were stunned when he told them three months before the war that he had no weapons of mass destruction, and they were demoralized because they had counted on hidden stocks of poison gas or germ weapons for the nation's defense, " stated the New York Times on March 12.

The Times story supports the testimony of two former Iraqi generals who said that prior to the war, Saddam was in possession of WMD.

    1. He used them in the past and killed hundreds of thousands of Kurds and Iraqis

    2. The IS evidence that Saddam was actively seeking Nuclear weapons and had Chemical and biological weapons at the time of the invasion in 2003.

3 The invasion was not about whether or not he had WMDs. The invasion was about the countless treaty violations that was a result of the original Gulf War were Saddam invaded another country.

    4. He forcefully removed weapons inspectors from Iraq which was the final straw after diplomacy and sanctions.

    5. Kim Jong Il Provably has Nuclear weapons currently. We cannot attack a country that has weapon in production due to a counterstrike. The UN security counsel concentrates on Prevention to keep countries that are unstable or can be a danger to their neighbors from getting Nuclear Chemical and Biological weapon. They dropped the ball on N Korea.

Iraq was justified in hundreds of different ways. Those that choose not to see it and concentrate on a lie rather than facts will probably never see that.

Sorry, I wasn't supposed to mention that. "W" might be listening!

(In fact, I know he is! F*ck you Bush, you fascist piece of sh*t! I can only hope he heard that.)

It wouldn't matter if Sadaam did have WMD's. He doesn't have any missiles powerful enough to reach Israel, much less the U.S. Some huge threat to our national security.

Your question reminds me of something Ron Paul said during one of the debates…

"The Soviets had 40,000 nuclear warheads pointed at us for over 30 years. We didn't invade them. We stood them down. Now we're fretting over 3rd world countries with no army or navy and we're ready to go to war."

Ridiculous. Just tell us our men are dying for oil. The lies make me want to kill people.

I wish people would get off the oil thing, the only oil we get from the Middle East is OPEC and they are not being very cooperative. If oil was so strategic and needful then the Democrats in congress would have already allowed drilling to start in Alaska 2 years ago and the economy wouldn't be in such a mess.

According to the intelligence that the leaders of the Western nations received, that the U. S. Senators received, that President Bush received, Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, at least as far as chemical and biological weapons were concerned. He actually USED chemical weapons against his own countrymen (Kurds and Shi'ites).

Go to the Congressional Record for the Senate and research some of the speeches given by John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Harry Reed, Tom Daschle, and other prominent Senate leaders, democrat and republican alike, calling for the use of force to disarm Iraq and remove Saddam Hussein from power. They based these speeches on the same intelligence that Bush had when he decided to invade Iraq.

It's just that between the time preparations were started and the event actually took place, Hussein had sufficient time to remove his chemical and biological weapons, probably to Syria. That is what one of Saddam's generals reported. And evidence has been found of stockpiles of these weapons that have been moved elsewhere.

    N. Korea had not violated 19 resolutions of the U. N., each one of which called for the use of force to compel compliance if needed. N. Korea had not been exposed as providing training and support for terrorist groups operating out of the Middle East against Israel and U. S. interests in the area, including close ties to Al Qaeda. Saddam Hussein might not have contributed to the attack on 9/11, but he surely supported the efforts of Al Qaeda.

You will never hear it on the "mainstream" media, which is intent on the failure of our efforts in Iraq, but the vast majority of Iraqis are grateful that the U. S. toppled Saddam Hussein and appreciate our efforts to eliminate the efforts of terrorists to bring down the fledgling Iraqi government. You can ask any returning U. S. military person to find this out. Go to their blogs and read their stories.
